Getting there & around
Getting to Yala
- Drive from Ella in around 2.5–3 hours, or from Galle in about 4 hours.
- From Colombo airport, allow roughly 5–6 hours by road via the Southern Expressway.
- Safari jeeps collect you from your hotel in Tissa or Kirinda.
- Use tuk-tuks or your driver to visit Kataragama, Kirinda and Bundala.

February to July is generally best for wildlife. Block 1 often closes for part of August to October.
